Sad and disappointing at the same time, this is probably the right word to describe the feelings of almost all gamers who love the Suikoden series today. How come? Despite the deep love for this giant franchise, the right owner – Konami seems reluctant to do anything new with him. The development team that has been scattered about the future of the franchise, which seems to be “no man’s land” is increasingly turning off hope. But amidst this darkness, a light suddenly appeared. Several members of the core Suikoden team are building a new developer studio called Rabbit & Bear Studios and are now planning to develop a new JRPG that looks like a spiritual successor to Suikoden!
They named the project Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which will carry a similar gameplay to Suikoden. This means a powerful story about war and friendships, more than 100 characters that you can recruit into parties, and a castle system that you can build and strengthen. Eiyuden itself will be built with a 2.5D visual taste, pixel-art based characters, and a super cool boss battle visualization approach that you can see in the video we pinned at the top of this article. The story will center on the main character named Nowa.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes itself will be developed by the core team as follows:
- Story: Yoshitaka Murayama (Suikoden, Suikoden II, The Alliance Alive)
- Character Design: Junko Kawano (Suikoden, Suikoden IV, Arca Last)
- System Design and Direction: Osamu Komuta (Suikoden Tierkreis, Suikoden Tactics, Arca Last)
- Art Direction and Production: Junichi Murakami (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, OZ)
- Composers: Michiko Naruke (Wild Arms Series), Motoi Sakuraba (Tales of Series)
To develop and complete the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Rabbit & Bear Studios will rely on the Kickstarter website to raise funds. They will target funding of USD 500,000 for the PC version, and extra goals for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch versions (if there is a next-gen Switch version). They also promised a first trailer for him when this funding campaign is active on 27 July 2020, which will last until 28 August 2020.
How about you? How many of you are looking forward to this one game?
